Two situations in which you should get a mobility scooter for your shop

Here are two situations in which you should start providing your shop customers with a mobility scooter that they can utilise on your premises if they have mobility issues.

You've moved to larger premises (or have extended your premises)

If you've either moved to a bigger commercial property or have extended your premises, then you should consider getting a mobility scooter for some of your shop's customers. The reason for this is that whilst in a small shop, a person with poor mobility might not struggle too much. This is because they won't have to walk more than two or three metres before reaching the product they want, the counter or the exit. They might not even attempt to go into a bigger shop where, for example, each aisle is seven metres long or they have to walk past a long row of aisles before they can reach one that houses the products they require.

As such, if your shop is now significantly larger than it once was, and you don't buy a mobility scooter for it, you might find that some of your regular customers who are not very mobile don't return after your shop's reopening and instead buy their goods from another, smaller shop. If you want to encourage this part of your customer base to remain loyal to your store and want to enable new, less able-bodied customers to explore your shop with ease, then you must have a mobility scooter in your shop.

You've started selling products aimed at customers with disabilities

If you've expanded the types of products that you sell and are now offering customers the chance to buy products that are useful for people with disabilities (such as gripping aids, extendable grabbers and walking sticks), then you will probably find that a lot of your customers respond positively to the presence of a mobility scooter on the premises.

The reason for this is that your customer base will almost certainly increase as a result of selling these types of goods. It is also likely to include both people with disabilities and the friends and family members of those with disabilities. Many of the former will find the scooter extremely helpful during their shopping trips, whilst many of the latter are likely to recommend your shop to their disabled loved ones when they see that you provide a scooter that will allow them to comfortably explore your shop. As such, getting a scooter could benefit not only your customers, but also your shop's reputation and sales figures.
